Increase, accompany and support the pool of new teachers for French immersion programs

This project aims to increase the pool of new teachers for French immersion (FI) programs by offering tools to promote and supervise internships. It consists of 2 components:

1. Initially, the aim is to increase internship opportunities in immersion classrooms by raising awareness of their importance among ACPI members. Coaching and resources are offered to the teacher receiving the intern as well as to the person doing the internship. The aim is to encourage current French immersion teachers to take on interns, and to raise the profile of internships among students enrolled in the 40 Canadian universities offering qualifying programs in teaching French as a second language, in French immersion or in French.

2. In a second phase, we offer support to newly hired teaching staff by facilitating their transition and successful integration into French immersion programs. They are also offered support in enriching their language skills, as well as pedagogical coaching.

This component is a continuation of ACPI's successful career launch program, for which there is considerable demand.
